St. Burch Chef de Cuisine Gabe Branch collaborates with the visiting fellows of the University of Iowa International Writing Program on a dinner and reading inspired by Anthony Bourdain, the indelible chef and pseudo-cultural anthropologist who spent his life honoring and exploring world cuisines, cultures, and histories. Featuring readings from Aušra Kaziliūnaitė, Jacqueline Goldberg, Gina Cole, and Eman AlYousuf.
About Eman AlYousuf:
Eman AlYousuf is a Chemical Engineer and a certified coach in Graphology as well as an Emirati writer. She has published three books of short stories: “wijooh Insan” (Many Faces of a Man), “Ta’er fi haowth alasmak” (A Bird in a Fish Tank), and “baidh aoyoon” (Eggs Sunny Sides Up), as well as two novels: “al nafitha allati absarat” (The Window That Saw) and “haris alShams” (The Sun’s Guardian) which won the first prize in The Emirates Novel awards 2016. She published a book of literature interviews with Emirati writers with the name of “khubz o hibir” (Bread and Ink). She writes a weekly column in alRoeya Emirati Newspapers and a monthly column in Emirat AlThaqafiya Magazine.
She wrote the first womanized – feminist Emirati short movie “Ghafa”, which was directed by Aisha AlZaabi.
