St. Burch Chef de Cuisine Gabe Branch collaborates with the visiting fellows of the University of Iowa International Writing Program on a dinner and reading inspired by Anthony Bourdain, the indelible chef and pseudo-cultural anthropologist who spent his life honoring and exploring world cuisines, cultures, and histories. Featuring readings from Aušra Kaziliūnaitė, Jacqueline Goldberg, Gina Cole, and Eman AlYousuf.
About Gina Cole:
Gina Cole is of Fijian, Scottish, and Welsh descent. She lives in Tamaki Makarau, Aotearoa, New Zealand. In 2013 she completed a Master’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Auckland. Her writing has been published in various publications and antholo¬gies. Her debut book of short stories Black Ice Matter was published in 2016 by Huia Publishers and won the Hubert Church Prize for best first book at the 2017 New Zealand Ockham Book Awards. She is currently a PhD candidate at Massey University, School of English, researching speculative fiction and science fiction in Oceania.
