Angelia Mahaney is a dancer, choreographer, Dj, live visual artist, and curator, with a BA in Dance from University of Iowa. She is co-founder of FemmeDecks, an electronic music collective aimed at bringing communities together to celebrate and empower diverse artists with marginalized voices. She presented Carrier Waves at Witching Hour in 2019, a movement-based performance incorporating live video projection and live original compositions by Brendan Hanks. She has performed and/or presented work at Mission Creek Festival with Hannibal Buress (2014), with New Territory Dance Company (2015), and co-created Sci Fi CoLab Dinner at Motley Cow alongside Eloy Barragán (2017). Her work with movement, music, and community organizing has been written up by Little Village Mag, The Gazette, KRUI, Press-Citizen and The Daily Iowan. Her utmost goal for Witching Hour 2021 and beyond is to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming artists that face challenges in the industry due to their gender, race and/or sexual orientation, and to construct inclusive spaces with high standards of safety for Djs and their dancefloors.
